Where exactly is this McKellips TH. I've been down that road, but it looks like it just leads right into some private property. There is a dirt pull out to the right (near the restaurant). I see the access trail to the Siphon Draw trail, but again, it looks like you have to go onto private property to get there. I've attached a map for clarification.

Rick, Just below dead center of your map there's a small white square shape. That's the parking area. The trail runs 10 feet north of private property, that last house you see, then runs right into the siphon draw trail in about 1/4 mile (or less?)

Paul, Joe...Thank you. I thought that might be it. I drove down that road about a year ago, but didn't notice the trail off to the side of the road.

From what I understand the groomed trail from the trail head only opened just last November, so there might not have been a trail for you to miss.

the trail is just to the side of the locked gate. You won't miss it.

Is parking free here?

yes... the last 50 yards is pretty rough, though.

K, thanks. I was thinking about doing a sunset hike and I can't use the Cholla Day use lot because it closes at ten. What do you mean by the last 50 yards is rough?

A honda civic would scrape bottom in those last 50 yards.
