Grand Canyon Trip

Hi all! Hugh and I (Robin) finished our rim-to-rim-to-rim hike last week. We started down S Kaibab Wednesday AM, camped at BA. We had a great "easier" day on Thursday hiking to Cottonwood for our next bag night. Friday we hiked out the north rim via N Kaibab. Wooo Hooo, what a monster this trail is..
We recouped at the North Rim GC Lodge for 2 nights and had some great food, that we didn't need to add water to
Our return trip started early Sunday am, with the 1.5 mile road walk from the Lodge to the trailhead. We reached Cottonwood faster than we anticipated, about 5 1/2 hours. Usually, Hugh and I are not speed demons down the trail, but, this time we seemed to have held our own. Plus we were not too terribly tired after the pounding N Kaibab trail. Monday am we set off for BA campground (and the cold Tecates at the canteen
) Along the way we spent sometime at Ribbon Falls and took our time getting to Bright Angel. Tuesday early, early am (1:40) we hiked out via Bright Angel trail. Hiking by the light of the moon was the icing on the cake for this trip. The Grand Canyon looks and feels entirely differenet when there are no people, no sounds, and moonlight. Try it sometime, it is AWESOME! We did not pass any people until the 3 mile resthouse, then it got busy. We were glad to be on top of the rim by 8:00. We promptly got a room, a shower, and vegged the rest of the day.
We are so glad we took a week to do this hike. I know most people try (and do) this hike in 24 hours. We rather enjoyed stopping to smell the roses.
Thanks for letting me share our experience.....Robin
