Humphrey's Peak

This will be my first ascent up Arizona's highest peak. Will probably choose to go up on Friday to allow at least a little bit of elevation acclimation, then start hiking on Saturday. Summit Trail #151 or via Inner Basin. Don't really have a route set in stone. Thoughts? I imagine Inner Basin is beautiful during fall, but not sure how the longer trek rates in fall.

If this is your first, I recommend the main trail. The IB will require a longer approach as the road is closed at the bottom near the mine. You can go off trail, but it might be more than you're looking for anyway. By the end of June, the normal route is in fine shape and should be great.

if one wanted to do the summit trail from snowbowl, then go down weatherford and back on kachina, are all of these trails open? i could do my own search, but i figured jim_h would know.

They are open. The only major trail on the Peaks which is closed, is the Waterline Trail south of the IB.

Looking forward to the hike. Will take the normal route (#151) from the West.

Haha, I've been planning this hike for this day as well. I'll confirm this as soon as I get it confirmed for sure by the wife.

Any suggestions for a Saturday morning meet time at the Trailhead? I'm a fan of early.

Snow Bowl Road is closed for construction daily 8pm-6am with restrictions to one lane at places when its open during the day, so a 7am start time seems the earliest feasible.

Hey Jim. I'm not sure what happened. I clicked something I wasn't supposed to maybe. Do you know how to "unlock" the options? More hikers are welcome to join.

I don't think I'll be able to hike old Humphrey, I was just wondering. I noticed it wasn't on the Calendar last night, either, but is now.
