Horseshoe Bend has been closed since yesterday afternoon. It may remain closed throughout today and possibly into tomorrow. No official reason given.

I have a pretty good idea, but since the park isn't saying anything I'm going to keep my mouth closed for the moment.

Do you mean the pull-in along the river for boaters, or up top, on the rim?

A human body was found 400 to 500 feet below the popular Horseshoe Bend overlook just south of Page Thursday, Page Police reported.

I guess if they've found someone down there, then the fears were confirmed.

Very sad...I think there was a fatality last year too.

Not as bad as when they jump off the Navajo Bridge, which happens several times a year, and the rangers have to go downstream in the jetboat to try to find the body. This way, the body was more easily found, since it wasn't in the river. People off themselves every day. It's sad, but very selfish, too.

Actually it isn't always easier. There was a body missing at HSB for just under 3 years. When they were searching for this guy, they found another body - but don't know who it belongs to.

That job is bad enough already. Extra bodies are not good. :(

Why don't they just shoot themselves in the head by the side of the highway? Make retrieval and cleanup a lot easier.

But that's not as dramatic and it is more expensive.

Oh, yeah, ammo is getting a bit pricey lately, true.
