I'm so fortunate to have a friend from high school who lives in Fairbanks, Alaska and I'm going there to visit in the summer of 2012! How awesome is that? We're planning on a 3 day backpack trip in Denali....come rain, snow or fog. I'm Denali bound!

Have fun! Don't wait too long to go down if you have altitude problems.

Wait, in Denali NP, or on Denali? I take the OP to just mean a trip to the park and not the mountain.

It does seem that way on further review.

Nice. I have a friend that worked up there and the wildlife she got to see was awesome!

Denali NP not
on Denali. I'm not much of a mountaineer. However I think my friend and I might get a 3 or 4 day backpack trip in the park which should be very cool. Either way, it's going to be pretty pumpkin awesome.

@Trishness
If you have the time and interest visit my cousin and his wife at their homestead just north of Denali Park.
Find a pilot at or near the park who would also like to visit Duane and Rena and spend a day or two.
Bring back a story about these very successful homesteaders and a host of pictures.
The following link tells about their place and experiences.
