The folks working on Peralta Trail headed for Tucson the other day, did not get a chance to ask if they part of a College Class, anyone know ? They worked on Peralta trail this past week. At one time the state had the AZ version of CCC and they worked on projects around the state. While camping this summer noted a group doing work on Apache/Sitgreaves Forest.

There still is a group, Americorps, which has an office in Flagstaff. I have heard they get a lot of volunteers from Europe. I have seen them working on South Kaibab Trail. My son worked with them for a little while, and they went to the Pine Mountains in SW Utah. I don't know where else they work.

Not sure about the A Bar S, since Alpine District has always actually funded a trail crew. There are a few other volunteer groups that work in the A-S, such as White Mtn. Conservation League, and TRACKS/Pinetop, but they are not college kids, they're local volunteers.

Saturday I hiked the Siphon Draw trail. There was a small group improving that trail. I asked and they said they were volunteers. It's good to see some work done on the trails.

There are several youth corps groups in AZ. Southwest Conservation Corps from Tucson, one from Flagstaff called CREC for which I don't know the full name, and ACE, maybe not from AZ but they work here often.

I ran into the work group as I was hiking to Fremont Saddle last Friday. I met the supervisor who was in charge of the trail maintenance crew, he told me they were all volunteers, but I don't know where they were from. I thanked them for the efforts they were putting into trail improvement.
