Maricopa County Parks and Recreation's "100 Miles of Hiking"

I'm a bit upset that I just found out about this, but the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department has an Arizona Centennial Celebration event going on called "100 Miles of Hiking". http://www.maricopa.gov/parks/100miles.aspx

Unfortunately, it ends next Monday, January 30 at 5:00 p.m.

I'll do a dozen or so miles by then, but I won't be able to do 100 miles.

Hopefully, someone on this forum can.

Is it acceptable to do the same trail repetitively?

Actually, I didn't realize it's over on a Monday. I wouldn't make it.

Wendi and I tried, got probably 45 miles I think. We just got caught up with the Supes again! Must be the promise of all that gold. ;) I'd give our miles but most of them would be based on our annual pass.

I should have about a quarter of that by Monday. Only 6 or so mile is Maricopa County, though.

I believe so, the only requirement is that it be in County parks. That's why when we did Thompson Peak only 6 of the 8 miles or so counted : (

@WilliamnWendi I wish I knew that a while back. I could have participated! I think I've done close to, if not a hundred in two parks since December. A quick walk at another park would have been enough.

I'd go print out all your triplogs, there are requirements that they be signed by the parks and receipts, but considering that much of the time an attendant is not available or in cases such as Spur Cross they flatly not available, much of this has to be on the honor system. Worth a try, I mean who is not gonna trust a HAZ'r with a fist full of triplogs. ;) In my case having an annual pass makes it even more vague because attendants at some parks don't give a receipt, sometimes you get mirror thingy, and now this year they issue a permanent mirror thingy so you may not even get that. Every park does it differently, it gets my pumpkin that when I have to leave my pass on the dash, that thing is worth $75 bucks. There are a lot of folks that'll break in your car to take 75$!

If they accept Mcdowell Sonoran Preserve miles, you can have all of mine :)

Nope, that's why I had to deduct 2 miles from my Thompson Peak hike. The portion going up the Jeep Trail is all MMSP. I learned this via a sign on the down side of the trail! That is literally one of the most painful to the point of pointless two miles of hiking I have yet done and it didn't count ](*,)

I counted about 135 miles since November 1st. I don't know if it's tracked, but I used my annual pass every time. No receipts as I have the sticker on the windshield. Nothing to lose if I call/email... It's worth a shirt. :D
