Shawn.. Thanks for sharing. It was a good read.
52 days of backpacking, and it seems like they saw a lot of cold, rain. and cows.
Nice to see someone else's perspective.

In this journal what is meant by "We returned(to camp) for a cowboy and great views"? It can be found in his 10/12/11 entry.

I read quite a few pages of the journal, and he used the term several times, in such a way that I became sure it was just shorthand for "cowboy camping" which is sleeping under the stars, sans tent. Funny that term has never really caught on in the backpacking lexicon. Where I live, up in Eagar, Arizona, everyone knows what "cowboy camping" means.

I almost made a rude remark, but it wouldn't have been the least bit PC...
