Mesa Ranger District Volunteer Trail Event, Feb 26-28

ARIZONA TRAIL MAINTENANCE VOLUNTEER PROJECT - PASSAGE 19, EASTERN SUPERSTITIONS

• DESCRIPTION: From February 26-28, 2012 volunteers will work ahead of youth conservation trail maintenance crews from Rogers Trough Trailhead in the Eastern Superstition Wilderness to trim vegetation, install signs, and break up fire rings along Passage 19a (Trail 109)
for more information on Passage 19, see http://www.aztrail.org/passages/pass_19.html. Volunteers may work one day, February 26th, or may sleep overnight with other volunteers and the USFS, at or near the Rogers Trough Trailhead and work daily through February 28th.

• MEETING LOCATION/TIME: 8 AM, February 26, Tonto National Forest, Mesa Ranger District, 5140 E. Ingram St, Mesa, 85225

ALTERNATE MEETING LOCATION/TIME: 10:15AM, February 26, Rogers Trough Trailhead
Directions: From Phoenix, take US Route 60 past Florence Junction. Between mileposts 214 and 215, turn north on Queen Creek Road for 1.6 miles to Forest Road 357. Go right (at the Y on road) on Road 357. Continue 3 miles on Road 357 to Forest Road 172. On FR 172 go left 10 miles to junction of 172A. Go right 3 miles on 172A to the end of road.

• PPE: Boots, gloves, long sleeves and pants, hard-hat (for tool work if available), camping gear if staying overnight, extra socks, tools (if available), water, snacks and food.
