What in the world? Maybe we are up too early and tired and out of it and maybe we don't know these trails very well
but can someone PLEASE explain how n the world we get to weever's needle?!
Peralta to Bluff Springs to Terrapin to?!?! I was so confused and there are no GPS tracks and we can't tell which ones, that just ruined my birthday plans of hiking to the Needle...this is why spontaneity is not always a good thing. *sigh* :(

If you just stay on Peralta you should go right by the Needle. You'll need to go off trail to get right to the Needle.

Weavers Needle Crosscut will get you close.

If you hike Peralta a ways past pinion camp, the climbers route to the base of the needle is very clearly marked (no actual climbing involved until you reach the first pitch at the base). Check out the Weaver's Needle Summit description for a better description of how to find that trail.

The Weaver's Needle Crosscut route will get you there from Terrapin. The turnoff from Terrapin is a bit more difficult to spot, but it's cairned. Refer to the crosscut description to find that. If you miss the cairned turnoff, you can just climb up the ridge on the left side of the Terrapin trail and bushwhack your way to the base of the needle, during which time you'll likely pick up the cairned route.
