Valley Tripping

Snow in Flag rules that out, and it's too soon for a return to the old Pueblo, so I plan to head down low and hike near the Valley. Thinking of east Valley hikes, like Tombs Thumb off Windgate Pass, probably something else. I want to do 5000 to 6000' feet of AEG for my trip. Don't know if I will have a 3 or 5 day weekend, but I expect to arrive Friday afternoon. Leave Sunday early afternoon to drive back to the nether-regions, or Monday if I have 5 days off. Anyone have interest or want to recommend another hike I might like?

Superstitions are always fun. Robbers Roost, peak 5057, Battleship, Black Top Mesa, etc...

I must be getting old, because tripping had a whole different meaning to me ...

Have you hiked into Hells Hole in the Ancha?

Do the Pinals. Just right for your stage of development. Chaparral at the bottom, aspens up top. I don't know when you're going, but there should be snow up top if you do it anytime soon. TH is 90 minutes from downtown Phoenix, and easily reached by a sedan.

Sorry, to be more specific, I want to do between 5 and 6000' in or around the Valley, to be warm and enjoy the weather.

OK, I guess there is some dull, boring, ball related event happening in the Valley, because I couldn't get a room in the entire Valley for anything reasonable (given the star level and price) so I got one in Casa Grande. Therefore, I will hike Friday PM in that area, and then I'm driving to Tucson for a Saturday a hike. Finger Rock? Something else. I don't know, but I'm excited about Pusch Ridge hiking again. Got to love that ridge.

Have you done Picacho Peak yet? It's on the way to Tucson from CG.

I didn't expect to get down early enough to hike it today. I did the Casa Grande Mt Park trails. I would be interested for Sunday if anyone is interested. I will likely stay in the desert, somewhere, Sunday night.
