Hi - I'm planning to do the Humphreys trail on Saturday May 19. Does anyone have first hand info of current trail conditions and snow level? Thanks in advance

Check out chumley's photoset and triplog from his Humphrey's hike earlier this month:

Lots of people were hiking on Saturday but at least a mile and a half of the trail below the tree line is snow covered. It's a little slippery and difficult to hike on because it's not a flat surface like the trail underneath it. But it can easily be done if you take your time. Most of it is packed hard enough to hike on top, but it's deep and there are plenty of prints from where people have "fallen through" and it's deep! The cool weather is definitely nice!

I'm more worried about the monsoon that's gonna knock us off the top in late July!
Let me know how your hike goes! And snow...bugger that'd be too chilly for a desert rat like me!

Unless you're hiking barefoot, the snow isn't very chilly. : rein :

I just hiked it yesterday from the Snowbowl side. There are still a few snow patches to go over but it's mostly so trampled down by other hikers that it wasn't a problem. I would recommend hiking poles if you don't feel comfortable with the snow, it was slippery in some spots but it didn't slow us down any.

It's so beautiful up there right now!
