: HELP!! I can't find Squaw Peak!!! :-O Don't laugh, Gang! I just moved here from Virginia; bought all of the "AZ Tourist Guides" and you would not believe where they sent me! One day, I ended up at Dreamy Draw Dam; so I just hiked there instead! :-) Do ya'll have any easy, direct directions to get me to Squaw Peak from Gilbert? I'm right off of Gilbert Rd and smack dab in the middle of Elliott and Warner. How embarrassing -- I can't even find the "Big Mountain In Phoenix"!! LOL!! :-)
Thanks for any help you can give! :-)
Have a great day! :-)

Annette,
I can't help you get to Squaw Peak, but from your location I suggest you check out South Mountain, its a lot closer and less crowded.
Welcome to Phoenix, and to Hike AZ

Welcome to Arizona, and HAZ!
From your area, take US-60 west to I-10, I-10 west into the central Phoenix area, exit onto SR-51. Get off at the Glendale Ave/Lincoln Drive exit. Turn right onto Lincoln, and then left at Squaw Peak Drive, about 1/4 mile past the freeway. You'll see signs directing you to the park.

The Squaw Peak Recreation Area is located at 2701 E. Squaw Peak Drive, which is right near 24th Street and Lincoln Drive. As Mike said, this is off the SR-51. The park is open from 6AM to 10PM. For more information call 602-262-7901.

And after you do the summit trail (including the alternate summit entrance), you have to do the Squaw Peak Circumference. It's a great little hike. You'll like it.
