For all the camera buffs on the forum, the National Weather Service has a photo contest. Here's their request for photo submissions:
The National Weather Service office in Phoenix will be conducting a weather photo contest this month. Winning pictures will be featured on our website and they might be used by our office for Spotter training or other educational purposes. We are looking for three main types of pictures: 1) thunderstorm structure and associated phenomena, 2) storm impacts, and 3) scenic/artistic. For thunderstorm structure, this would include such things as rain-free bases, wall clouds, shelf clouds, tornadoes/funnel clouds, downbursts, and gustnadoes. Storm impacts would include such things as wind damage, flooding, dust storms, etc. The scenic/artistic category is for pictures that may not directly illustrate the first two categories but demonstrate moments of beauty in the atmosphere. We will take up to three digital pictures from each person. The pictures must have been taken by the person submitting them (or their immediate family member). You can make your submission by sendingan email to austin.jamison@noaa.gov. Along with your name, please include a time, date, location, and description of the scene for each picture. Preference will be given to pictures taken within theSonoran Desert region and especially our forecast area. The last day for submissions will be November27th. First, second, and third place will be awarded in each category. We plan to have winners selectedduring the first week of December. We look forward to seeing your pictures!
Note: Submit photos to austin.jamison@noaa.gov and not to this website.
