Hike Arizona Tough Mudder Team

I'm planning on doing the 2013 Tough Mudder (my first), and thought it would be cool to have a Hike AZ team (there are discounts!). I'm an ACE certified personal trainer, but have never trained for this type of event. Is anyone interested? Has anyone done one of these before?

Talk to hippyhaley, she did it last year and would probably be game to be on your team.

I debated doing the TM, but am already doing the Spartan race that is the week before. Two in a row might be a bit much. I am also doing the Mud Factor run this month on the 24th.

Hippy,
Is your team planning on training for the Tough Mudder? I'm not looking to train anyone, just have some fun and meet people with similar interests.
If people do want to do a few hikes, maybe cross-training workouts prior to February, I can throw some things together. Let me know, you already have a team, so it's your call.
P.S. The cartwheel concept is very cool. Maybe that will be in the race!

Abbey, come join us, the other members on my team won't train, they're lazy americans :sl:
I on the other hand am a bit of a maniac I would gladly run and hike and climb and do all sorts of madness, not only in preparation for the event...but, well, I kind of enjoy the physical challenges in general. shoot me a pm with your email or something and i'll invite you to join my team.
but i do happen to know quite a few fun/crazy people with similar interests...eh, most of us are a bit off our rockers but that's okay i'm sure.

If you guys are interested in tough workouts, sign up for this outfit's Daily workouts (WoD). The training regimen can be as brutal as you want to make it...

(Just for the record, I have no affiliation with this group).

I just realized that since I can't really run or hike or climb right now...I have just about a month and a half to entirely re-train before the tough mudder in Feb...I guess I better get started on some push ups and pulls up or some such madness right now!!

@pixelfrog if you head out to the Needle after christmas, let me know! My ankle should be 100% by then, and I'm going to start sneaking in a few easier hikes before New Years to get back in shape so I can start in on 2013 at full speed. Only having a month or two to get back into shape before tough mudder is not fun!

Did you get out and do the Mudder Hippy? I completed my first and it was hands down one of the most fun things I've ever done and one of the best days of my life! Loved every minute of it.

Finished with my team of 7 in 3 hours and 20 minutes. Can't wait to do another one now.

I think he hit every obstacle :) I didnt skip to many myself but Im disappointef I didnt jump the fire, I didnt trust my right ankle, bretter safe than sorry.

Favorite obstacles?
Everest! And the cage crawl I think it was called...awesome.

Awesome Congrats Hippy!

I ran on Saturday and the weather was perfect, I take it you went on Sunday? Mad respect for running in that cold, ugh!

I loved a lot of the obstacles, agreed Everest and Cage Crawl were some of the better ones. I successfully completed all but the Funky Monkey and Hangin Tough, but not for lack of trying. Really want another crack at Hangin Tough.

Even Electric Eel wasn't as bad as people make it out to be, does hurt though. Made it up Everest on the first try and through Electro Shock therapy only getting zapped once and stayed on my feet the whole way.

What an awesome event, can't wait to do it again!!! :D

funky monkey defeated me last year and by the time i hit it this year my fingers were too stiff and numb to bend.

elctric eel and elctroshock therapy are my favorites, love those beasts!! i need to work on handling the cold, i skipped hangin tough and funky monkey and one of the crawl through water pipe things but i absolutely LOVED the 20 foot jump, talk about conquering fears!
so...when do we sign up for next year? when sign ups open i'll throw up a thread on here see if we can get a crazy HAZ team up and running!
