Alamo Peak...Off Trail

Even though the lower portion of this day will include official trail routes, there really is no trail: canyon bottom river rock! Alamo Canyon... then Caballero Canyon "trails"... Once officially off trail for awhile it might get a touch better as we follow the route of an old access road once used to install a water pipeline down from the mountain... that takes us up to West Side Road. From there, again an old route up to a mining site... and then, pure off trail and possibly pure steep as we nail down the last 2,000' feet of this 5,000'+ day. If all goes well, we will hit the Observatory, take in the views, then head home down a "real" trail: T109, Alamo Peak trail... at least down to the connection with T104 and it's semi-trail path until it dumps us once again into canyon bottom. So, 20-25 miles of off trail with a bit of elevation up/down thrown into the mix. Might be a fun day!
