Turkey Day hike at Turkey Creek. Making the long trip to east side entrance of Aravaipa Wilderness at Turkey Creek. From there, will travel a couple miles south to Oak Grove Canyon. I'm expecting colorful sycamore, cottonwood and maples along the hike. Mostly flat terrain with boulder hopping and some occasional bushwacking. Oak Grove is about 4-5 miles total out and back. Also, plan to scope out section of Turkey creek further to the south. Possibly as much as 8-9 miles total.
Game Plan: Meet at Signal Butte and 60. On the road at 4am. Feet on the ground at 8am. Hike around for 6 hours then start driving back around 2pm. Lots of driving, but I really find this area worth it, especially this time of year. I would stay longer, but I would miss my smoked turkey dinner at 7pm. Can't have that!
