Found this device on the web and was wondering if any of you have used it to remove catclaw plants.

It looks a bit heavy for backpacking. I'll have to stick with tweezers.

I have cleared land by hand more than once in my life, to create gardening space. If that thing works as advertised, it sure would come in handy.

It says it works on Acacia so it should work for our cat's claw. Looks like you can call them and talk with them. This would definitely be part of a team effort. It is non-powered so it should be able to be used in a designated Wilderness.

It is still "mechanized" however. The same thing that prohibits bicycles from wilderness use.

@chumley
No more mechanized than my digital camera or hand operated water filter.
Does this mean that I cannot take pictures or purify my water?

@SG
Thus the age-old argument of cyclists everywhere...

SG, we have one, have not tried it on catclaw. One would want to do it after a rain I think. You are welcome to try it, PM me if interested.

If it works folks we may have to build an Arizona backpacking model out of titanium ;) .

Back in 2009, we saw a few of these stashed in Aravaipa Canyon (west side). We were wondering what they were back then...now we know!
