We plan to do a pre-event hike, effectively doubling the distance for this annual El Paso area hiking event. The official hike begins at 6am February 2nd... and covers the 27 mile route over 9-10 hours. Our augment will begin the evening before, starting at the finish line. We will hike the route, ideally arriving at the start line around 5-5:30am... ready to begin the return trip with the formal group. So... 55 miles for the day? Moderate elevation hit, but sandy in spots...

We will stage a series of training hikes to help get everyone ready for this double dose of pleasure/pain... With luck it will move my longest day ever (53 miles/8,000' of climbing: 11h 20min) up a tiny bit!

This should provide a nice lead in to everyone interested in graduating over to some nice ultra-distance events later in the year.
