In case of emergency

Whether I go on solo or group adventures, I let people know where I will be hiking. I've told those close to me, that if anything were to happen to me (i.e. not return as scheduled), that Hike Arizona should be at the top of the list for contact in case of emergency. I wonder, though, how easily accessible the HAZ community would be to someone who is not yet registered with the site.

Perhaps I should start by sharing my username/password info with family members, and teach them how to make a forum post. Other thoughts or ideas?

I look at many of you as experts and/or masters of the many routes in which we travel. In some ways, our own community of HAZ'ers may be even more valuable than volunteer search and rescue or official emergency services.

Hiking and outdoor related sports can be dangerous. Be responsible and prepare for the trip. Study the area you are entering and plan accordingly. Dress for the current and unexpected weather changes. Take plenty of water. Never go alone. Make an itinerary with your plan(s), route(s), destination(s) and expected return time. Give your itinerary to trusted family and/or friends.
