Looks like Bear Grylls (the survivalist guy who stays at the nearby Holiday Inn while pretending to be living off the land) is starting a new reality show that appears to be similar to the Amazing Race.

They're holding a tryout for people who want to play along. (Sat, Jan. 12, 10-4 at Superstition Springs Center in Mesa.)

I'm taking Jonnybackpack. We'll die within a matter of hours, but at least we'll be drinking good beer the whole time. :D

I'll go with just about anybody and rest assured that with adequate preparation, backpacking rarely presents a life-and-death situation. It probably doesn't make for very good TV, though.

I'm taking John9l because we wouldn't know what was going on half the time but we'd probably win regardless. And even if we lost we'd still be :D <---grinning like idiots!

Wonder how he would react to stepping on a dog squeeze toy at 2am while on a night hike.
