Think I just found the new headquarters for all of us HAZ members that live in north central Phoenix. Just got word that the first batch of beer is done at North Mountain Brewery on Dunlap and that they are opening soon.

They have been advertising in the Moon Valley News for almost a year now...teasing with the "Opening Soon." Hopefully they really mean it this time!

They had a small open house back in October during the Sunnyslope Art Walk and I talked to them about opening. Told me that they were shooting for March or April at the latest. So far they have advertised for wait staff & bartenders and just emailed me that the first batch of beer is brewed. I will take that as a good sign.

Meanwhile, Budweiser is being sued for watering down their beer.
Wait.
It was not already watered down before?

I used to stop by my bud's place for a couple of Buds. It was all he drank.
I always got a headache and I mentioned this to my UPS delivery guy.
He being a font of knowledge said it was because Bud contains beyorkabipolarethelylene which causes headaches in 25% of the population.

See you hit it on a previous adventure. Used to live in Tucson and worked with a biker guy who frequented the joint. Laughed to me one day that some U of A frat house had as an initiation that pledges had to go into the Bashful Bandit and get a picture taken. Said the regulars would not let them in and chased them out. Tough place.

Well you know the old joke about Bud/Coors/Miller being like making love in a canoe.

Well they just announced their grand opening for Saturday, March 9th. I may be out of town, so will have to amble on over after my Tuesday afternoon training hike at the nearby preserve a few days later.

We checked out North Mountain Brewing this past Friday night. They were a little overwhelmed with it being opening weekend. The staff was super friendly. I had the Mt. Hefe, and then a second.

They have pretzel bread with a pistachio pesto spread that was amazing!

Made a quick pit stop in there last night after my hike. Got the flight of beers so that I could taste everything that they make. Not the best beer that I've had, but still solid enough that I think that it will become a regular stopping off point. Plus it is only 5 minutes from my house and 5 minutes from the mountain preserve. Good place to quench your thirst after a training hike up North Mountain or Shaw Butte.

Nice ad on the front page of our HOA newsletter. I was trying to think of where to take my wife after I pick her up from the airport Saturday, and this will hit the spot.

Since moving out of the 'Slope I have only hit North Mountain a few times in the past year. After living in the beer snobby Northwest it takes a lot to impress me at a brewpub. Half my visits to North Mountain were okay but half were a disappointment, so it's a crap shoot. The last time I went about a month ago the service was a lot better than previous visits. Before I almost had to send off a signal flare to track down my server when my glass was empty. Will be interested to see how you fare.

I'm pretty sure he meant Tempe, or he should have.
North Mt. Brewery has become one of the better breweries in town, always a different selection of brews which is good and bad because once you fall in love with one they run out, but you fall in love with another one. I've met the owners and talked with them a few times there, they are good people. Great food as well, you will not be disappointed there.
If you want another place to try, Dubina Brewing just opened up in Glendale. 67th Ave and Bell. And wait for it, next month Saddle Mt. Brewery opens in Goodyear. I've met the owner and was in there 2 weeks ago, I don't usually have high hopes for places, but this one might just be a gem.
*Yes i'm plugging the new breweries in town*

Used to live in Idaho where I had 5 brewpubs with 15 minutes of my house and another 5 within 10 minutes of that. Plus used to travel to Washington and Oregon for work. THAT Northwest.

Where in Goodyear, the west valley is a good beer desert and I'm parched. Only thing keeping me sane is the Total Wine out here.
