We are looking for a good place to break up the segment – what is a good point to break it up – the obvious one is at Tusayan but we were looking for a point that’s between 11-12 miles from GrandView TH or from Kaibab. We see some dirt roads that meet this criteria but we are not sure about how accessible these are to leave a shuttle vehicle especially since they fall within the NP boundaries. Do you have any recommendations on where to stage a shuttle other than at the main blacktop along East Rim Drive & near Tusayan?

in this map

Google calls the blue road FR314, topo calls it 2709. It crosses the #37 at 10.3mi northbound. While it looks pretty good on satellite it has "vertical" numbering which means it could be 4x4. FR302 has horizontal numbering which is simple high clearance. The safest bet appears to utilize the orange 1/3mi walk(not offical, looks like an old road) to where #37 meets what is called "Tusayan Compactor Station" on topo. You can load this map into a gps receiver
If no one responds with current conditions on those roads I'd suggest calling the forest service. Perhaps others have alternative ideas too!
