Well, I found out what the paint is for on the trees at Bull Pen Campground. This is what the forest service is doing in the name of public safety.

To close/change/enhance one popular place only makes the crowds find another. There is nothing wrong with bull pen. Clear the limbs and get out! Over management at its finest. WE and loosing OUR land!!!

I guess they should close the Grand Canyon with all those sheer drop-offs that pose a danger to the public... I agree with ASU - Enough already! Close an area because some tree limbs may fall? Go trim them and be done with it, don't close the area while "officials" get paid to figure out what to do!

That's the way all government agencies work," HURRY UP!! and wait..." ;) In the real world 2 guys could have those trees cut, split and stacked in a couple days

Trying to figure out exactly where Bull Pen is and if it will affect both the White Box/Hanging Gardens Trip or the Bear Canyon Trip I have planned.... ;)

@Outdoor Lover
I think it really only affects you if you're planning on taking a big cooler of booze down to a swimming hole and surrounding yourself with a bunch of rednecks doing the same thing.

A while back, I read something that said it may re-open some time in Sept. (crossing fingers, burning a chicken and some botanicals under a bridge, knocking on wood and turning around three times.)

Anyone know if you can still park at Bull Pen for a multi day upstream hike? I saw signs a few weeks ago stating "day use only" on the way in.
