Looks like the shoe tree on Beeline got whacked.

The Mrs. and I were coming down the Beeline after hiking General Springs and saw the tree on it's side.
Since we weren't planning on stopping there we only saw it for a brief moment, but the Mrs. said it looked to be cut down.
But then we saw it 3 weeks ago and it was sooooo loaded, maybe it just fell over from the weight.

We were actually discussing it on the way back from White Box last weekend. It was still standing then, and there were people stopped and adding to it.
I do hope somebody takes the time to pick up all the shoes now that it's no longer standing.

X2. IMO it reached eye-sore status long ago and I for one am glad it's down. to me it was just another example of how the human race continually comes up with new ways to deface our natural world.

I have mixed feelings on the shoe tree concept. On the plus side, at least all the trash is concentrated in one spot rather than strewn around the forest.

I really hope it was cut down and all the trash cleaned up. That tree was a nice novelty but ultimately turned into a trash heap and an eyesore.

@John9L
Yeah I also have mixed feelings for the juniper tree north of the Sunset rest area on I-17.
I think looking like a Christmas tree for a few weeks is cool, but now it's turned into a full time memorial.
Also someone is putting a lot of energy into it cuz since it got singed in the brush fire it has it's own water barrels.
Sucks to be the tree 30 feet away.

I never notice these things. There's an arrow tree south of here, south of Hannagan on 191 somewhere. I've never actually seen it. People shoot arrows into it. Or, maybe it burned in one of the many fires?
