Just to nip it in the bud, no I didn't carve it....

Since the area was once completely under water, it's clear that these carvings were created by the early Fish People. Unfortunately, the Fish People were soon made extinct by the Rock People that didn't like being carved upon.

and these rock people were eventually taken over by the paper people, who they themselves fell prey to the scissors people and then the cycle continued
