Prescribed Fire, where ever.

I see exciting news that the Kaibab NF has burned 2600 acres in the Government Prairie north of Parks, AZ.

This is great news, as who knows when the last time that grassland had burned? It is certainly out of the ecological season, but I don't think we have as much of a seasonal specificity to plant flowering and reproductive cycles, the way certain plants do in the SE. Then again, simply altering the season of a fire can affect what grows back to dominate, wildflowers dominating after fire in late summer vs grass after fire in early summer (in the SE, again). January, I have no idea. I'm a little surprised there is no snow at all, but I really shouldn't be. 2600 acres is a huge burn block for the FS and in that area, but grass fires are fast and they can ring them, so they can burn hot as you want to kill trees and shrubs, even if only top killing.
That area is pretty nice, but still grazed. It was nice when I went out there in 2011. If there is a HAZfest, perhaps some images can be posted of the regrowth?
