Pictures from Red Mountain on Tuesday (12/10).

We took the day off work for my birthday and spent the day in the flagstaff area. The pictures do the area no justice and being in the middle of the day, most of them got washed out by the sun, but it's a beautiful area.

Have past by there many times on the way to the GC and have wondered about it; Obviously shouldn't be just passing by, but stopping and hiking in instead! Thanks!

Great photos Daryl. Thanks for sharing them. What was the purpose of the rock wall with the ladder?

Yes indeed, thank you Daryl. I hadn't been up there for years. The pics brought back some great memories.

I think that wall keeps the area from washing out over time.

This is one area in the flagstaff area that I have not been to. 24 years in the city and never been to red mountain. Shame on me.
Awesome job!

Your photo presentation of Red Mountain should be a "new high bar" for the Forest Circus and their rinky dink website. What a wonderful job! Amazing that you would put that much time into the prep of the web presentation in a mere 2-3 days. You deserve a Gold Star on your Life Chart for this one!
Susun and I love Red Mountain. It's one of our favorite places. Typically, weather permitting, we leave the Verde Valley headed for the GC so that we will arrive at Red Mountain about two hours before sunset on any given day. We tuck into the "PJ" forest there and car-camp. We "hotfoot" it up into the volcanics and then come back and cook dinner and hang out before arising early and heading up to the GC. Sometimes, we also go back in before breakfast the following morning.
It's never the same. No matter how many times you go there, it NEVER looks the same. Uncanny in that regard.
Most people ZOOM right past it on their way to the Big Mecca. That's cool. It leaves Red Mountain for the rest of us!

My sister and I used to take our kids out there for picnics. Pretty spot. I noticed there is a sign now and what looks to be a decent road.
