Flash Flood on Kauai

While hiking on Kauai we encountered three "Firsts"; First time we've ever seen a true flash flood - The stream we crossed was 6"-8" deep, we boulder hopped and kept our shoes dry. 5 minutes later, the stream grew into a river, completely impassible, leading to our second "First"; spending the night with no gear whatsoever. We built and kept a raging fire, and had a few tarps to kind of shleld us from the rain, and for the most part we stood up and did our best to stay warm and kind-of dry all night. With probably 5+ inches of nonstop rain overnight, there was no laying down. Then the third "First", getting air evac'd back to safety.
