As far as I can tell from the information given, this is burning in Walnut Canyon, along AZT #31. It is up to 100 acres and has been given type 3 status for more resources.

It's slow growth combined with the Daily Sun report of 2 to 4 foot flame lengths are no cowning are are good sign that it's a reasonably healthy. I have a hunch that the hotshot crews were brought in as insurance since it was so close to town. Jim, I wish you lived more nearby, as I would look forward to hiking through the burn with you and assessing my assumptions on it being a healthy burn.

Oh, if I was still in Flag, I would be going there asap to explore the burn. I think that area is within FS prescribed burn units.
