Looks like if you are climbing Everest this year you will have to be carrying your own gear, oh snap! the poor doctor or lawyer who spent all that money to take a picture at the Base Camp landfill might actually have to carry something now..I know somewhere in California AZ Backpacker is quietly laughing to herself at the notion of those poor wealthy men actually having to work a little to get that coveted base camp picture..he he he...

"Sixteen people have died on this mountain on the first day of our climb, how can we step on it now?"
Over 300 local guides and other mountaineers have died on the mountain since 1953. Nine last year, ten the year before...
Over 10% of attempts result in death (a great improvement ... it used to be 1 in 4 until the mid 1990s). There are corpses strewn across the mountain because most are never recovered. The camps and routes are littered with trash --- too difficult to remove.
I'm not sure how they
ever step on it.

@chumley
I actually talked to someone who went to base camp and he described it something on the lines of a third world landfill..lol
so its like pay thousands of dollars to look at trash and take your picture in a field of tents..I would rather spend the time and money doing JMT..or something in Alaska I think..

Climbing Mt. Everest? Nepal Says Bring Back Garbage
So they want hikers to bring out extra garbage, well that's a great idea.
The waste includes empty oxygen bottles, torn tents, discarded food containers and the bodies of climbers who died on the mountain.
Well this certainly takes the cultural label of Trash Hauled Out to a new level.

@Alston Neal
"Wait so we have to carry our friend out who died on our trip?"
"Ill carry the head then! someone else can take the torso"

@friendofThundergod
There might be an easier way....Also gives "body surfing" a new meaning.
