What is the consensus on the Tanner in mid-November, weather permitting?

I like a hot shower, when it is cold out there, and I plan to camp if I go, so I guess nearer to Mather is better for camping. As far as the Tanner goes, looks like a stellar hike probably with some great views out east.

I think it would be great. November cold isn't enough to bother me, though.

It's plenty cold on the rim but once you get into the canyon it should be perfect. It's only about a 30 min drive from the village to Lipan.

Say, didn't we use to have a section or list of GC summits? Any recommendations for a summit from the South Rim?

I'm also considering the New Hance, but expect the Tanner has better views, especially later in the day. Better out on to the Rez and of the cliffs of the Eastern Rim.

@Jim_H
Battleship Iowa off the Bright Angel Trail is a good one.

Escalante and Cardenas Buttes are a great daytrip off Tanner
