Hello hikers! I have some property up off Aravaipa Rd. and I'm looking for some hikes in the area, besides Aravaipa Canyon. Anything near Mammoth, Dudleyville, San Manuel or even Winkelman? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Arizona Trail!

You have a lot of history in your area along with a lot of Arizona State Trust Land and I would recommend obtaining a state land permit. Near where you live is the site of Old Camp Grant (mostly on private property) and the Camp Grant Massacre site which is also located on private property. You also have many prehistoric sites though not much remains including the rumored location of the Blue Ruin. Many small mines are also located, including gold, silver, lead and copper. You also have gypsum and some coal which was mentioned first by an officer first stationed at Camp Grant. Though you may not many designated trails nearby (the Arizona Trail segment nearby is popular with mtn. bikers) but many of the old two tracks offer some excellent chances for exploring.

Cross the San Pedro to the west at some locations and you will note petroglyphs and some more prehistoric sites out on the desert towards AZ 79. The North end of Catalina Mtns. to the South (recommend exploring the North East and East side), the Galiuro's to the East (take the Redington or River Road from Mammoth head south to the Wilcox cutoff and take the turn to the Muleshoe Preserve, Redfield Canyon Wilderness and the South end of the Galiuro's. Also out of Mammoth is a road that will take you to Copper Creek, an old mining camp in a very nice setting.
If you head North there is White Canyon Wilderness and to the North East there is Needle Eye Wilderness.
