I am planning to hike Guadalupe Ridge which connects Guadalupe NP to Carlsbad NP with the middle section running through Lincoln National Forest. I scouted portions of it last year and think I know where to cache water, how long it will take, etc.
But, I'd love to hear from anyone who has completed this hike - you can't have too much intel.
Thanks,
Mike S

Try giving imike a PM. He has hiked the most in that area and lives in NM. I have hiked Guadalupe Peak, but not the ridgeline. Dry and windy when I was there.

My wife lived in Kodiak a few years in the early 70's while her dad was crab fishing out of there. I lived in SE AK in the 80's and part of the 90's.

Alas... my wanderings have yet to drift that far south... I do repeats on Guadalupe Peak when in a training cycle... and I have longer term plans to hike the ridge route... but it is years away!

Just back from Guadalupe Mtns NP: Route planned, water caches determined, maps printed and.......Carlsbad closed their backcountry to all hikers and campers. Long story short, I pleaded with the LE Ranger for permission, but was denied. So I did an out and back from McKittrick up the Permian Reef trail to Wilderness Ridge 45 (Lincoln NF) to #201 which I followed all the way to the boundary of Lincoln NF and Carlsbad (which I had hiked to from the Carlsbad TH last year). So I have completed the route, just never thought it would be a section rather than through hike. 50 miles in 4 days. At this time I have no desire to return to do a through hike. I'll upload a photoset at some point.
