30 Years!

On June 5, 1985, the Chicago Cubs played the Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field. The Braves won 4-2 in 11 innings.

Atlanta right-fielder Claudell Washington hit a foul ball down the left field line in the 11th inning that was caught by Ferris Bueller.

In the hour following the game, Ferris, Cameron, and Sloane visited Art Institute museum, Sears Tower, and Sloane's house, plus Ferris sang a couple of songs in a parade. :D

What were you doing 30 years ago today?

I was living out on the land in Hawaii, 20 days from birthing my third child, taking care of babies and a big vegetable garden, dealing with an alcoholic spouse, looking at the gorgeous view from my house from time to time, but often wishing I was not on the island because it was too confining. I went to the library often, and listened to local radio because my husband was the morning DJ there, but never paid any attention to sports.

You shouldn't have asked. ;)

That was a rhetorical question.

I think you mean 1985, not 1995 in the lead in. I don't know what I was doing that particular day, but I was living right here in the same house, no doubt grinding through June waiting for the monsoon. Interestingly, I did make a trip to the midwest in early September, and me and a friend from Des Moines went to a couple of Cub games at Wrigley. They were playing the Cincinnati Reds, and we were at the game in which Pete Rose tied Ty Cobb's all time hit total. The game was called due to thunderstorms rolling through in late innings. Good times!

Update...I had to go check the web to see if my memory was right on the game. Pretty much. Long rain delay (two hours) then play picked up again and Rose was retired two more times. The Reds had tied the game and after 9 innings it was called because of darkness (pre-lights of course). Tie game or is that Ty game?

Collecting and burning the trash left behind by the day hikers, backpackers and horseman at Reavis Ranch. Breaking down the glass and metal containers from the burned remains so it could be packaged and hauled out by horsepower. Burying the human waste and toilet paper and breaking down the fire rings that were not in existing hardened campsites. Plus doing a little trail work as I backpacked in and out during each visit. Good times and even some solitude after the winter and spring visitor season was over. IE very few visitors :lone: after the end of May and beginning of the summer heat :scared: .
And yes some things were better back then.... Just sayin... ;)
