I recently moved to AZ and have started hiking Mainly in San Tan park on the Goldmine trail to San Tan to Dynamite loop. I am planning a trip to Grand Canyon in Sept and would like to find some one experienced to hike with. I have a lot to learn and would appreciate it if someone would pay it forward. I am available on weekends and willing to drive north for cooler hiking weather.

jgtinga,
There are several Meetup groups that are hiking focused on meetup.com.
I found a ton of cool people in some of them, and there are meetup groups for all levels.

@jgtinga Not to exclude HAZ, but to offer you an additional active hiking club suggestion to consider is:
Arizona Outdoor Travel Club (AOTC) http://www.azotc.com/
I retired new to AZ from CA in May'04 and enjoyed my membership in AOTC for a few years meeting new and lasting hiking friends and finding my way around the many hiking areas in AZ prior-to now finding my permanent hiking home on HAZ.
I see that AOTC has their next General Membership Meeting on August 5th..

You are wise to seek experienced company, this has been a bad year for hikers. Along those lines, September in the canyon (only in AZ do you not need to say which canyon) will be quite warm. It is there year round, so if you want to hike there when it's not 100 degrees at the bottom, go a couple months later.
