My kids just got new hammocks for Christmas, and I'd love to get them out sometime soon to try them out, but everywhere we would normally go this time of year isn't conducive to hammock camping (IE: Desert with scrub trees).

Any ideas on a (relatively) warm place to sling hammock some weekend?

Warm weather is tough. Maybe somewhere close to a stream where you can sling some cottonwoods. I've seen people hammock near (but not at) Charlesbois spring and near Whiskey springs in the superstitions. Where whiskey springs meets the Red Tanks also seems to have a workable area for slinging a hammock (possibly slightly east of the junction), unless someone went there within a few years and cut all the trees down. Trees are more prevalent at higher elevations, but your request for a relatively warm place rules those out.

Yeah, in a few months it'll be no problem, but we're not kitted to much below 30.

Thanks for the suggestion, that's close enough if it doesn't pan out it's not a huge deal.

i strung up a hammock all over the western supes. trouble is, it's tougher to hang more than one. there is a spot at Pinyon camp where 2 sugar sumacs meet http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=85972 in a "V" and i've hung there next to crocodile ryan. also, there is a great small cluster of pines http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=81824 where campaign creek meets the fireline trail. second water has some great hanging spots. the thing about hanging sites, always trust a hanger. we know how to spot places that tenting folk never notice.
my vote would go to red creek, although it's a helluva drive.

that's called a "bridge" hammock. the black one in the first photo is a Jacks R Better commercial sample. the camo ripstop is one i made, then the brown ripstop is mkII version. it had a pad sleeve near the feet so i could use a partial underquilt. either of the hammocks were in the 7oz range. hiking poles for spreader bars. i now use an original "Blackbird" by warbonnet outdoors. said company now makes a killer bridge style hammock. they allow you to sleep almost perfectly flat on your back or side. drawbacks are... they are wide so you need a huge tarp in foul weather.

btw, have you visited the hammock forums website? veterans and new hangers alike. there are many guys (like me) who visit and post info on that site who have been hanging full time for a decade. lots of great info, there. although, HAZ has it's good hammock speak from time to time. lots of hangers here, too.
