I am headed into Aravaipa Canyon next week and would like to know if it possible to hike/bushwhack up any of the side canyons, especially Horse Camp and Booger Canyons. Thanks.

I have been up Virgus, Booger, Horse, Hell Hole and Parson. The hikes all require some clamoring (some would say climbing) if you take them very far (except maybe Parson). Most anyone can go up Booger and Horse for at least an hour or more without much difficulty. Virgus is often overlooked, but is a wonderful canyon. Hell Hole has a neat spring about 1/2 hour up from Aravaipa Creek and you can hike it all the way out to the ranch if you are inclined.

For everyone's information, I found some specific information on the Aravaipa side canyons in the Hiking Arizona's Cactus Country, Third Edition guidebook by Erik Molvar. Copyright 2013, so it may be a bit dated - like saying you should pack your solid waste out of Aravaipa Canyon which BLM does not require.

It never ceases to amaze me how a thread can go off on a completely unexpected direction. That said, I have not eaten at a McDonald's in thirty years.

And I didn't even have anything to do with it!
