Four Peaks from the Lake Roosevelt Side?

I love Four Peaks, but hate the bone-jarring, 19-mile, off-road drive from the Beeline Hwy. I understand that if you go through Globe and up from the Lake Roosevelt side, it cuts the off-road driving down by about half (albeit increasing the overall travel mileage). True? What would the route be? It's not clear to me from the maps whether there is a road that connects from Roosevelt Lake(?) Any intelligence on actual route and road conditions would be great. Thx.

generally takes 15 minutes more time driving in my experiences from Fountain Hills

from Fountain Hills

from Globe
http://hikearizona.com/map.php?QX=4558

it is considerably smoother, no big ravines
civics and prius make it up this way

@ddgrunning The turn from AZ 188 onto Oso Road (which takes you up to 4P) is opposite the A-Cross Road just NW of Roosevelt Lake. Beeline 87 North to 188 and back down to Oso Road would be my recommendation.

Seems weird to me to compare drive time/distance from Globe with Fountain Hills to Four Peaks. It's only less time and distance if you started in Globe. If you start from Phoenix, you need to factor in the additional drive to Globe.

the return factor is Big Daddy's pizza ( 188/87/FH ) or a slew of mexican food options ( Globe/Superior )

Considering the Renaissance Festival traffic and road construction on US 60 between Superior and Globe I'd take 87 through Fountain Hills for the present time. Big Daddy's Pizza is worth the stop.

I've done it from both Roads and Oso Road from the Roosevelt Side wins...Hands Down. I take the Beeline since I'm close to that anyway and it's just about an Hour to the Oso Road Turnoff....And Oso Road is really smooth Sailing compared to Four Peaks Road. And Big Daddy's is a Must. Stop. for. Pie. now.! :D
