Does anyone know the distance from the North Rim campground area to Ribbon Falls? I'm going on a North Rim camping trip with some of my family and would like to get in some day hikes. Any suggestions?

I don't know exactly but it would be a long one for a day hike--14 miles for the round trip--16 maybe.

It's just shy of 16 miles roundtrip...a long day hike.

Is there anything slightly shorter than that out there, that may be a little bit too long?

You can always head down a trail find a nice stopping point and head back. I have done that on the Tanner trail. The North Kiabab trail does have really nice views if you wanted to do that on that trail.

Roaring Springs is 4 miles down the North Kaibab. Some of the most awesome views of the Canyon are found between Supai Tunnel (2 miles from the rim) and Roaring Springs.

And, as Steven said, you can turn around at any point on the North Kaibab.

Yeah, I just hear about Roaring Springs from someone the other day. Sounds like a great hike with some great scenery. Thanks for the idea.
