Sanity Check Update

The AT trial was a bust in late April so the final decision is still in flux. It was supposed to be 10 days but my daughter had enough at day 3, an R&R zero for day 4 was no help and she bugged out. Knees and precipitation-suck. I didn't do much better tapping out at day 5 with continued bad weather, poor water discipline, wet sleeping kit and too far to go to a shelter.
There will be a solo AT rematch June 17 with the same itinerary, and minor gear tweaks to preserve dryness (or stay sheltered until it is). A better tarp game and water attitude is coming along too.
I got back-channel confirmation of transportation or "rescue" availability when finding out my sister-in-law, 72 years young, spent 5 days driving some friends around hitting some casinos.
Still lots to learn. Still stoked!
Peace!
