7/12 Pikes Peak Pumpkin Loop
Posted: Jul 03 2016 7:02 pm
Short notice because of forecasts having to be in line, but I'm doing the pumpkin loop again only this time it's all on trail.
If your looking for a scenic death march mostly above 10000' I'm departing Marcroft Hall Chipita Park, Co 2 am.
Approx. 39 miles 10000'+AEG. Water available to filter Barr camp and Creek before the Crags trailhead. Not sure if Summit building will be open for their water fountains, but the water tastes terrible so don't bother. Must be in good shape and ready for a long day at altitude estimating 13-16 hours. Bailouts could be back down Heizer. Hitching a ride down toll Rd. from the top, or Crags trailhead.
2 mile road walk to Heizer trail. 7 miles to Barr trail on Heizer. 7.8 on Barr trail to Summit. Approx. 6.5 down Crags trail and 16 miles on Ring the Peak ending in Mt. Esther
