We first made our initial connection to HAZ while researching the Barnhardt Trail for some obscure USFS gig. That would have been about 5JAN02. We then learned of a HAZ trip planned for the AB Young Trail. We asked if we could go along. SandeJ was in charge and the answer was an enthusiastic YES. Well, we didn't know if we could keep up with the HAZ hikers. We were pretty concerned about it. Yes, there were some Power Hikers on that trip but no one made us feel awkward about our slow pace. We fondly recall that trip as a measure of our newfound hiking feet!
Easter Sunday 2003 was Susun's first return there since that wonderful day in JAN02. It was a ball!
You can read about it on the TrailDEX. We have posted pics at:

Bear in mind there's way more pics there than any of you would care to look at. They are posted for Susun's family.

The AB Young Trail is becoming one of our favorites. Hopefully, it won't get too hot too soon to preclude ambling along this awesome CCC route.

Great photos!!
Changing the subject here--what do you know about the Palatkwapi Trail? I have an issue of Plateau magazine (from the Museum of Northern Arizona) that tells a bunch about the history of the trail. I did a search on google and your name popped up right here on HAZ!!
