I'm hopefully going to be backpacking to Reavis Ranch this weekend from the Roger's Trough Trailhead. Can anyone who's been this was recently let me know if there's filterable water? If I don't have to carry 100lbs of water, I will be a happy camper!

I have not been in that area lately but judging by the amount of water that has been present further west of there you're odds of finding filterable water should be good.

I was at Reevis Falls today and there was still a trickle comming down. Odds are you won't have a problem finding water. Plus there were a few showers in the area when we were on our way out.

About how far is Reavis Falls from Reavis Ranch?

Reavis Falls is about 5 miles to the north as the crow flies. So I heard. By trail its about 7.5 miles or so

I'm backpacking in there Saturday as well. We are banking on filterable water being there. There's a creek running right through the ranch that, with all the snow this winter, should still be running fine.

I have a creek from snow melt that's still flowing right by my house in east Mesa.

If you find out for sure, let me know. I'll do the same.

I just talked to my all knowing hiking guru and he said that it is a perenial stream that should normally be flowing year round. In really dry years it may not flow, but with all the snow we should be fine.

Woohoo, sounds like it's going to be a good trip. We'll be getting to the Roger's Trough trailhead I'm guestimating around 8am.

Well, that was an interesting trip. Does anyone know the exact elevation change from the bottom of Grave Canyon to the top of Reavis Saddle? In the book it says 700 feet, but I don't believe that is entirely accurate. It felt like 700,000,000,000 feet

I had a bad cold, but went anyway, only really suffered the last mile out from the trail junction with Roger's Canyon 110 to the trailhead. Just couldn't breathe anymore.....

I'd like to go back though for a couple of nights and explore some of the other trails on the area.

It's closer to 1000 feet. Going off memory, the low point is 4300 feet and the high point (reavis saddle) is 5300 feet.

Did you see that deer that spent the night between us?

hey was there any filterable water up there? how was the weather? i'm thinking of going on thurs or fri for an overnighter.

I thought that climb was at least 1000ft, at least it seemed like it or I'm going nutty.

There was lots of filterable water there. I would like to go back in the fall and see if there are any edible apples.
