I have been curious lately and can't find this out. The Salt river travels from Canyon lake to Saguaro lake so what is it like in between there? Can you get there? Is their camping? Has anyone been there??

thanks

That's an interesting question. I can hardly wait to hear the answer.

I know there is a dam right near Canyon Lake. But wonder how far you are allowed to backtrack from Saguaro.

I'm sure Fritzski or somebody here knows. If not I'll ask my brother in-law. He used to work at the marina.

You can access from the north two locations and from the south one location that provides hiking and offroading.

The first from Butcher Jones beach, there is gate that goes into an offroad area that a jeep road (FR 1813) will take you to an area called the rolls, a side trail heads to the souh east and you will end up on the east side of the lake opposite Bagley Flats. You can also take forest road 1343 (opposite the Sugarloaf turnoff on the Beeline to a junction and then take forest road 13 to Cottonwood camp. Hike down the wash to the upper narrows of Saguaro Lake (along the way you may find nice pieces of iron pyrite in the snads of the wash).

From Arizona 88 take forest road 12 (very rough 4x4) apx. two miles in (or walk from a pull off adjacent to AZ 88) and walk down Willow Springs Wash to the narrows of Saguaro Lake that seperates the lake into two large areas.
