I didn't see an existing thread so we'll start a new one.

Anyone been on the South Kaibab or Bright Angel within the last week? I'm wondering if there is ice present on either trail?

We're hiking in on S. Kaibab on Saturday and out Bright Angel on Tuesday. Wondering if yaktrax will be necessary.

Recent photos posted on social media show that both BA and SK have snow and hard-packed ice in the shaded sections at the highest elevations. It looked to be less over the weekend than it was last week.

You can also call the BCO and they will almost certainly know the condition of the corridor trails.

Steep, potentially icy trails with big dropoffs? At only a few ounces per pair and easy to clip to the pack, yaktrax should probably be considered standard GC winter gear.

Was on both a week ago- no ice or snow that will cause issues.
The BCO answers phones 1PM to 5PM weekdays only. They are open for walk ins 8-12 (closed 12-1) reopening at 1PM.

I've seen that posted elsewhere, but it is inaccurate information:

Backcountry Information Center staff answer information telephone inquiries at 928-638-7875 between 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday, except on federal holidays. This telephone number is for information only.

I spoke with someone there just last week at 11:12am, and have spoken with them in morning hours previously as well. I don't think I've ever tried during the lunch hour, but regardless of when you call there will be a lot of busy or 'straight to voicemail' results. However, in my experience a phone call is still the quickest way to get the best information short of being there in person.
