Rincon Mts/East Slope Trail
Posted: Feb 13 2017 8:35 am
In March, I'm planning a 3-day solo through the Rincon Mountains east of Tucson. Hiking from Spud Rock Campsite, north around Mica Mtn., then on to Manning Camp for night two.
I'm interested to know if anyone has recently hiked the East Slope Trail. According to the rangers, the trail has been open, yet unmaintained, for several years and I'm wondering about the condition of the trail and if there are any issues with being able to follow it. Last time I hiked this route was about 45 years ago and I'm sure nature has begun to take over (fire, overgrowth, erosion, etc.).
Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.
