Wow, that's a shocker! I wonder if they'll keep selling higher-end brands.

How will Moosejaw fit into our e-commerce business?
Moosejaw will continue to operate its site and stores as it has in the past, and will be run as a standalone and complementary brand to our other e-commerce sites.
It's pretty common for large companies to own or operate separate companies that cater to higher-end (and typically more profitable) markets. A recent local example would be Anheuser-Busch/InBev purchasing Four Peaks Brewing Company.
An older but well-known global example would be Toyota's luxury division Lexus.

I like the Moosejaw stuff. I hope with all that Walmart is behind it they will grow and make even better stuff.

I'm very interested to hear what they say at work about this (I'm one of the managers at the AZ Hiking Shack). Will see what our vendors say about it. My guess is that the vendors will be treated to Wal-Mart style purchasing guidelines and Amazon might jump into the fray to pick up a retailer or two.

This is the kind of thing I'm worried about. It all depends how they decide to manage the business.
