Phrynosoma (Tapaja) hernandesi

Common Names: Horned Lizard
Habitat: Northern, Central and Southeastern Arizona above 4000'.
Description:The only Horned Lizard distinguished by the large gap in between it's two central horns. Horns are short and on lower body there is one single row of serrated scales. One row of pronounced scales on back of neck running from gap. 2 Dark blotches on either side of neck.
Comments:This Lizard is very hardy to the cold. Main diet is ants.
