Lithobates palustris

Common Names:Pickerel Frog

Habitat:Slow moving Water and other damp areas. Prefers areas with low vegetation. Found in most of the Eastern States except for the extreme Southeast.

Description:Smooth skinned. Dorsolateral folds are cream colored or yellow. Light colored Frog with parallel rows of dark squarish blotches on back. Underside may be yellow or orange.

Comments:Irritating skin secretion is a turn off to most predators. This secretion will kill other Frogs if kept in the same container or terrarium. Mostly nocturnal and hibernates in the winter.
